Happy May, everyone!!!! This spring brought a lot of showers here in LA and we are extremely grateful for taking a breather from our severe drought. And now for the first time (in at least half of the decade that I’ve lived here) everything is a beautiful lush green and the flowers are sprinkling our landscape with joyful colors everywhere! It’s difficult to stay in a terrible mood when the sun is shining and, quite literally, there are no clouds in the sky. On top of that, we aren’t the only ones experiencing a surge in the heat wave and bloom, my parents back east just told me that it was in the 90s over the weekend! How could you not get excited about summer when this is happening?! So, in honor of a premature summer and the pops of color that are growing around the city, we bring to you our OOTD!
This wall was just the perfect representation of how we feel inside about our OOTD. It’s bubbly, fresh, airy, and it has pops of color. What more could you ask for?
To prep for the upcoming heatwaves I found the perfect dress from Tobi.com. Why is it perfect? Well, first off it’s only $19!!!! What? I’m still reeling over this because it’s so adorable, it fits perfectly AND it’s super affordable. Is this real life?? Second of all, it feels totally vintage inspired, which I’m a huge fan of being that I am a geeky costume designer/stylist. The halter bikini top gives it a fun, retro vibe, but the sexy keyhole adds a modern twist. This gives you just enough skin without feeling like you’re revealing too much, which is something I totally appreciate. However, keep in mind that if you’re blessed up top there is not really much support for the girls. I recommend wearing a white strapless bra underneath and using the halter to lift the girls up. And as though there isn’t enough that I’m already gushing over, the skirt has a hidden pocket!! The practical side of me is BEAMING over this.
And although it looks like a two piece from the front this adorable dress is actually one, which makes life super easy!
Now since we spent so little on the dress, I decided it was ok to splurge a little on the accessories so I went to Marshalls to find some awesome brand name items for a bargain. I got this gorgeous lazer cut Kate Spade clutch for under a $100 and it’s large enough to fit my phone, which my fiancee refers to as my mini Ipad (I have a 7 plus and I love it and I don’t care what anyone says LOL). I saw there were other colors at the store, but this juicy color had me drooling!
Then I walked over to their clearance section and the heavens opened up and heard my fashion prayers. Sitting in a box were these beauts… and I turned into a real life heart eyeballs emoji. Then I saw that they were Stuart Weitzman and then I turned into sadface emoji, and then I saw the red clearance tag that said $149 from from $399 and I nearly had a conniption. Not only are they affordable, but they’re exactly the fun shoe I’ve been looking for. And they bring the right pop of color to my all white dress!
And finally, I accessorized with these adorable pom earrings, which have been a total hit this spring. There are poms coming out the wazoo at all the local stores so watch out for those… and for our upcoming friday DIY!
