Hello from Los Angeles!!!
Connie and I are absolutely thrilled about today’s post because we chose to do something we haven’t done in forever, which also happens to be one of our favorite pastimes together:
TWINNING. FOR NO FRIGGIN’ REASON.
Ok, so maybe we are only semi-twinning, but regardless, we just love getting dressed up in similar clothes and getting in touch with our badass alter egos. We like to call them Thelma & Louise, but instead of being runaways from the law and flying off a cliff, in our fantasies we have a 90’s band together called L.A. Haze and we travel around the world playing all of the instruments and taking turns singing lead vocal. We both really love Rock Band so this fantasy makes total sense to us. (See above for our album cover). Also, we just love the idea of stepping away a little from reality and escape to a place where we live like rockstars. No, sir, we’re no groupies and we’re not with the band cuz, dammit, we are the band. Despite the fact that this can’t happen just yet, there is no reason that we can’t live out our dreams in real life by merely embracing the #OOTD. So this week we are getting in touch with our inner rock goddess and we’ll show you two different styles with the same legendary feel!!
It all started when we we found these matching distressed tops from TOBI.com. We loved the sexy halter dress from polka dot week so much that we decided to check their site again for any other affordable things we might like. Lo and behold we found exactly what we wanted. These two pieces are in essence the same, but we found items that suited our styles best.
LEFT: I’m wearing the Alice Distressed Tshirt Dress
RIGHT: Connie is wearing the Rebel Distressed Bodysuit.
By themselves the items are great and super comfortable, but we wanted to take make them edgier and added some accessories to spice things up!
For those of you who love fringe and want the sexy tomboy vibe, Connie’s #OOTD is made for you!
For accessories we went more simple, yet unique. The Double hoop is a new twist to the singular hoop and you know we love a good cat eye! Both of these items we found at Nordstrom. Connie’s ring is her own.
This beautiful fringe jacket is from Zara and it is one of our favorite items! It has the moto style from the front, but when you turn around it is HEAVENLY. It has the crisscross back detail with the silver grommets, as well as rows of soft fringe cascading the back and down the arms. We love that it’s made of a soft suede material versus the uncomfortable and rather squeaky leather versions we’ve seen before. On top of that you won’t break the bank for this one!
This awesome belt has a rocker vibe with the alternating gold/silver studs, but it also has a western appeal with the buckle. We couldn’t be more enamored over this one, but know that it’s pretty heavy and pricey!
Connie’s white jeans were actually quite an easy find!! We went to Madewell initially to get the white version of our favorite pair of high waisted jeans, but it didn’t seem worth it to spend almost $150 so we went hunting for a more affordable version. We totally lucked out when we found these extremely comfortable ones in the BP section at Nordstrom. The best part about them is that they’re sooooo soft and have a good stretch. They’re also naturally distressed and come in this skinny crop, which we love because they help elongate the legs.
And last, but not least we found her the higher heeled black version of my favorite all-purpose open-toe shoe from this post here. I love it because it is basically like the Stuart Weitzman nudist shoe, but with a much thicker heel and a way cheaper price! These every day heels go with so many different outfits because the minimalist straps do not draw too much attention and the amount of skin that shows creates the illusion that you’re legs are even longer!
And if you’re looking for a more sexy feminine vibe, my #OOTD is right for you!
What I love about this tshirt dress is that it’s great as a stand alone. It’s got the holes, it’s got the rolled sleeve, and it’s short enough to show off plenty of leg. It is pretty boxy, however, so to give the tee more shape I decided to hop on the fashion wagon and finally try the layering trend! It’s a trend I remember doing back in the 90s with the tshirt and a spaghetti strap dress on top, and honestly, I’m not mad it’s back. I loved the 90s!!!
So to achieve this look I went in search for the perfect edgy layer and found this amazing faux leather top from Zara. It’s so versatile because I can wear it over this tee or I can wear it alone. Either way, the shape mimics a bra so it really emphasizes the breasts giving you automatic sex appeal! On top of that, it also is fitted to my waist so the baggy tee now shows off my shape 🙂
For my accessories I chose my go-to cat eye glasses from Cotton On (last season). These are always a conversation starter! Then I wrapped an old lucky brand necklace around my neck twice to create a choker. This is a favorite trick of mine as a stylist to take old pieces and wear them in new ways. Then I wore a bunch of rings from a variety pack I got from H&M and wore my favorite earrings from Loren Olivia.
And to finish it off, I found these killer heels from Shelly’s London and fell in love. They’re EXTREMELY tall; however, so be forewarned. They are wedge style though so they’re surprisingly comfy. This is perfect for the girl who dares to be bold.
And now for our favorite segment…. SOMA & ULTE OUTTAKES!!!
Resting Party Face.
I may be her soulmate, but most importantly, I’m Connie’s coat rack.
Resting Thought Face.
Always makin’ time to monkey around.
Connie actually looks totally badass, but I ruined it… womp womp!
